Black Golden Retrievers are well-proportioned dogs with broad heads, straight muzzles, short ears, and friendly and intelligent eyes. They move with a powerful yet smooth gait, with their feathery tail waving excitedly.

They weigh up to about 34 kilograms (75 lbs) and reach a maximum height of about 61 centimeters (26 inches) with a stunning pitch-black coat.

Like long-haired German Shepherd puppies, Golden Retrievers are very active and friendly and need to exercise regularly, or else they will likely gain weight and obesity. Besides, these dogs do not require much grooming, although they have a thick, shiny wavy coats.

Exercise, Active, And Temperament

Black Golden Retrievers are very affectionate, friendly, and easy-going with children. They will never bulldoze your kid, which is why they have become one of the most popular dog breeds in America ( ranked third!).

Moreover, they have an infinite love for adventure games because their playability is unlimited. You only need to throw something, and they are ready to find and pick it up again and again.

The Golden Retriever’s exercise requirements are greater than 40 minutes per day to keep them healthy and prevent their destructive behaviors. Besides, they are very joyful about participating in outdoor activities such as playing fetch, swimming, running, etc. Moreover, they tend to chew on household items and get destructive when bored.

Training

Like Long-haired German Shepherds and retriever dogs, the Black-Golden Retriever is also highly trainable, intelligent, obedient, and loyal. These characteristics help them stay at the top of their classrooms in training schools.

They tend to do whatever it takes to be commendable and to please their owners. However, you might have a problem when training them with a leash. To prevent spine and neck problems resulting from your dog pulling the leash, start leash training when it’s still tiny.

Nutrition and Health

Black Golden Retriever is one of the relatively healthy breeds. However, they are susceptible to certain diseases such as hip dysplasia, cataracts, ear infections, Elbow Dysplasia, and cancer.

Despite the need to exercise a lot and the high energy level, they do not need to sleep too much; this means the sleep requirement with this breed is not significant.

In terms of nutrition, an average Golden Retriever requires two meals a day to absorb an appropriate amount of nutrients and minerals, especially phosphorus and calcium, to ensure healthy growth.

Puppies should not eat foods rich in calories because this can cause them to become overweight even though their bones are not growing, leading to limb misalignment.

A Retrievers’ gestation period ranges from 60 to 64 days, which occurs once a year. Depending on many uncontrollable factors, an adult dog can lay from 5 to 10 liters in its lifecycle.

Grooming

Grooming a black Golden Retriever is not too difficult, although it sheds a lot. You can trim the hair from the back legs, tails, ears, and feet when it gets too shaggy and long. While many breeds will not let you do so, Retrievers are very friendly and easy to work with.

In addition, the black Golden Retriever likes water and bathing; they will be delighted if you give them a refreshing bath. It would be great if you bathed and brushed them twice a week.

How Much Does A Black Golden Retriever Cost?

On average, you can buy a black Golden Retriever from breeders with prices ranging from 1000 dollars to 2000 dollars. The high price difference is due to several factors, such as height, weight, age, and health. A weaker and sicklier breed costs less than a stronger and healthier one.

It would be best if you considered carefully when choosing a breeder. Do not be fooled into buying from unethical or shady breeders.

In A Nutshell

If you are looking for a human’s faithful four-legged friend who is loyal, friendly, and intelligent, the black Golden Retriever is a perfect choice for you. You can quickly train them to work in many different roles.
