The Difference Between Parti Yorkie and Traditional Yorkie

You can easily get confused between traditional Yorkies and Parti Yorkies because they look so similar. These two belong to the same dog breed.

The only difference between a Parti Yorkies and normal Yorkies is the colors of their coat. The word “parti” itself means “particular”, so those dogs who have the word “parti” before their name also mean they have certain different colors.

Normal Yorkies can have blue and tan-colored coats, while a Parti Yorkie will have a unique coat color with white, black, and tan-colored.

Parti Yorkies Appearance

Size

Parti Yorkies – like traditional Yorkies, can weigh up to 7 pounds and reach 9 inches in height when they reach adulthood. With their small size, they can be considered small dogs or toy dogs raised to be human companions only.

When it comes to size, they have the same size as black Pug and Maltipoo puppies. If you think Yorkies are too small and want to keep bigger dogs, you can think about having a Miniature Dachshund or Blue French Bulldog.

Coat and Color

Parti Yorkies have thick coats. The length of their hair can be average or long. As we mentioned above, they have white, black, and tan-colored coats.

Are Parti Yorkies Good Family Members?

Temperament

Like Chocolate Lab puppies, Long Haired Dachshunds, Havanese puppies, and Yellow Lab, Parti Yorkies tend to love to play with their humans or other dogs. They can be friendly and affectionate if you raise them in a loving environment and make them socialize.

Sometimes, you might see these little friends become so needy and want to be around you all day. As companion dogs, this is how they are, so ensure you try your best not to leave them home alone for too long.

In case you have to go out frequently, teach them to play with toys or with other dogs so they will not feel lonely and depressed.

Besides the pros of their personality, there are also some cons to pay attention to. Even when they can love the pets they have been growing up with, introducing new pets into your house might make them aggressive. Moreover, they might also bark at strangers quite frequently, so ensure you teach them behavior when they are puppies.

Parti Yorkies and Children

While playing or being annoyed, Parti Yorkies might snap. Therefore, these dogs are more suitable for older children, not babies or toddlers. As older children are calmers and can take them out for a walk, the relationship between them will be much better.

Socialization

Siberian Husky puppies can make new human and animal friends instantly, but the Yorkies might need you to put extra effort into making them socialize. As mentioned above, these Yorkies can be aggressive over new animals and strangers, so they need to socialize to be more friendly. When they interact with more people and animals, they will have more experience and grow their love for others.

Training

Have you ever wondered why tiny dogs like Chihuahuas tend to become more aggressive than bigger dogs without thinking about the consequences? Some people call it “small dog syndrome,” which is also the “syndrome” of Yorkies and Parti Yorkies.

Besides, this dog breed might be hard to train at home even though they are intelligent. For this reason, you should train them when they are young puppies or hire a trainer if you are comfortable with it.

Lifespan

If you take care of these little friends well, you can expect them to live up to 12 or 15 years.

Common Health Issues

Small dogs can have many different types of sickness and health issues due to breeding, and both Parti Yorkies and traditional Yorkies are the exceptions. They can have eye problems and stress-infused conditions quite easily.

Sometimes, if not taken care of well enough, they can also get eye infections, tooth problems, and gum issues. For this reason, it is advisable to bring them to the vet when you are supposed to or when they have any abnormal signals of unwell being. Moreover, you should know whether your Yorkies are hypoallergenic and do the right things for them.
